Program Overview

The MFD Emergency Services National Academy’s EMT courses were designed with you in mind.

#1: Designed for Working Professionals

As Paramedic/Firefighters, we understand you cannot put your life, or your career, on hold to achieve EMT certification.  As educators, as working professionals, and as learners we have designed a program that is proven to achieve results while also giving you maximum flexibility for your personal and professional life.

#2: EMT In Person Classroom Setting

The in person EMT course will be a hybrid course. Hybrid means that students will have weekly assignments that are completed online and on their own. The students will then meet in person with an instructor weekly to learn and practice skills.

#3: EMT Online Classroom Setting

The online EMT class students will have weekly assignments that are completed online and on their own. Students will then meet online once a week to go over course content and answer any questions students may have.

#4: EMT Online Skills Camp

For online program only. Students will participate in a 2-day residency skills camp in Rexburg, Idaho to refine skills and pass off the labs they have studied.

#5: Independent Study

For online program only, students are allowed to complete up to 45 days of independent study outside of the regularly scheduled coursework.

#6: NREMT Certification Exam

After successfully completing all of the Program's requirements, students are then eligible to register for, and complete, the National Registry EMT Certification written exam.

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a trained healthcare professional who provides life-saving medical care in emergency situations. EMTs are often the first responders to 911 calls and play a vital role in stabilizing patients before they reach the hospital.

EMTs are trained to assess a patient’s condition, perform CPR, control bleeding, manage breathing problems, provide basic airway support, and safely transport patients in ambulances. They work closely with firefighters, paramedics, and emergency room staff.

Becoming an EMT is the first step toward a career in emergency medical services (EMS) — and an important way to serve your community and save lives.
